BUYMilk & Honey | Rupi Kaur

Image
WRITING STYLE: 4/5 ENTERTAINMENT QUOTIENT: 4/5 Overall Rating: 4/5 Blurb- Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. About the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. The book is divided into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. My Take on the Book- I read this book for a readathon challenge. Before this readathon I had never tried Poetry so this was my first and after reading this book I’m sure its not the last. Now I’ll be reading more poetry that’s for sure. Talking about Milk & Honey the book was well written. The words were minimal but they were strong and meaningful. The first chapter Violence was a little disturbing for me and it was supposed to be that way so the writer did justice here with her writing. Next was abuse, this word in itself is painful but the prose and poetry were so intense and beautiful which made me want to read further. Then comes love and loss, this particular ...

BUY The God of Small Things | Arundhati Roy

Image
* I won’t be rating this book * This is book by Arundhati Roy is the winner of the 1997 Booker Prize ( the reason I’m not rating this book). I have read her work before and I was excited to read this book and was expecting a lot because of the previous book ( The Ministry of Utmost Happiness) I read and loved, but somehow this book didn’t meet my expectations. The first 30 pages gave a good start to the book but after that I was lost and confused. The story was focusing present, past and future events of different characters simultaneously which I felt was one of the reason I felt confused. It took me half a book to remember the characters (who they were, the relation between them, what is happening with them) which I felt was not good. But the conclusion of the book, last 50 pages were so well written that they started to build my interest towards the story again as the first 30 pages did. I agree the ending of the book was perfect but overall I lost the interest mid ...
