There is something intriguing about reading spy novels and what can be more interesting than reading a romantic spy novel. So here I am reviewing a quite fascinating book I recently had the pleasure of reading. Kabira Not Until I Die does not sound much interesting (at least I didn’t like the title so much) but once you delve deeper into the really amazing chapters there is not much left to do except reading the book start to end.
“Kabira Not Until I Die” is the story is of an Indian student Kabir in Russia who, under the influence of his impressive Russian professor, decides to undertake a covert operation in Afghanistan but little does he know that his professor is not what he seems like on the outset. As a consequence of the bad choices he has so far made and the unlucky situations he has found himself into, Kabir lands up in jail and his one true love Noosh, for whom he had come to Afghanistan, is left alone with a child in her belly.
So what will happen to Kabir? Will he ever come out? And with her family and friends all dead, where will Noosh go? Will she be able to rescue Kabir? What will happen to the professor? Will he succeed in his diabolical plans? Will Kabir ever see the face of his child? Or will he rot forever in the confines of a foreign jail? To know about their tale of love and separation, read this exciting new book today!
I liked the plot of “Kabira Not Until I Die” and the way it so effortlessly spans the story across the length and breadth of the three nations of Russia, Afghanistan and India. I also liked the Russian spy backdrop – there is something lethal and alluring about that kind of setting. The characters are all likeable but my personal favourites were Kabir and his professor. There is something raw and diabolical about the professor which makes you feel like you are living a “Mafioso” movie. I also liked Noosh a lot. Her devotion and patience were surely inspirational.
The book moves at a fast pace and is full of action and adventure at every turn. I also liked the way Arvind Parashar makes use of historical events and adapts the story to fit in around those events. This is done almost effortlessly and this is what makes the book click. Another thing which excited me as a reader was the beautiful and thoughtful use of Sant Kabir’s quotes at the start of each chapter. This was really very well thought of and added to the charms of the book. I simply loved it!
The climax was also good and in the end, the story ends with a pleasant surprise. All in all, I loved “Kabira Not Until I Die” and recommend it to all my readers.
